Grasslands are damaged inordinately by grazing cattle and horses or asses. Dust from such barren lands is blown up by the current of wind and the atmosphere in that region is polluted. In India dust storm is a familiar incident in and around the Thar desert in Rajasthan. Dust from the Thar desert is swept even to areas as far as Delhi and Agra.
Eruption of volcanoes also pollute atmosphere. Sizeable amount of dust smoke and other pollutants are emitted by volcanic eruptions which mingle in the air. In 1883 Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia erupted rocking the Indian Ocean. In a few weeks time a thick layer of dust. Smoke and ash almost covered the entire South East Asia. For sveral days the atmosphere remained gloomy and somewhat opaque to sunlight.
